SWFL Techies Talk About Trends for 2023
PySWFL, SWFL Coders, SWFL Data, SWFLSec AND VR+AR of SWFL, are the current members of Tech Alliance of SWFL, an alliance of Southwest Florida tech leaders advancing innovation and education across the region. January, 2023

As much as I enjoy venturing in the digital world, it is very rare that I stop and think about how technology is making daily changes that are shaping the way in which we behave. For 2023, I’ve decided to go beyond understanding the new social media and editing trends and to go further into learning more about the trends that are not only changing our behavior, but shaping the future.

From artificial intelligence and coding to cybersecurity, internet of things (IoT), virtual reality and more, technology is non-stop evolving not only simplifying our lives, but to also discover a new myriad of opportunities for a future world and our interrelations with them. New challenges in government, medicine, education and globalization will bring the need for adaptability and new problem solving ideas.

Industry experts and tech community leaders of SWFL gather periodically in Fort Myers to network, share and discuss the latest and most current technology trends in the world. Tech Alliance of SWFL is a partnership of local tech organizations whose common goal is to grow a community of not only professionals in this fascinating field, but also anyone to draw in anyone that wants to venture in tech for the first time. This alliance has grown rapidly in only a few years with almost 500 members involved. The Tech Alliance of SWFL is comprised of five separate groups (PySWFL, SWFL Coders, SWFL Data, SWFLSec, and VR+AR (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality) of SWFL) that specialize in various aspects of technology.

Are you interested in AI image generation, voice generation, video generation technologies and robotics? PySWFL is a volunteer-run interdisciplinary user group for exploration and experimentation with the Python programming language.

The fascinating world of programming has grown so much and is a continuously evolving field. SWFL Coders is a group for techies, developers, coders and non-coders, who wish to learn more about the fantastic world of programming.

SWFL Data is dedicated to share knowledge about all things data. Data is everywhere nowadays and with this group you can learn how to manage data from a business perspective, or on a personal level.

SWFLSec is a Southwest Florida’s information security community dedicated to create awareness around cybersecurity topics. Effective cybersecurity involves a combination of technical and non-technical methods that can be applied on most industries one of them the healthcare system. Do want to learn how digital health is positively impacting the Orlando Health industry? Then this is the group for you.

VR+AR of SWFL welcomes everyone, including innovators, developers, inventors, storytellers, content producers, entrepreneurs, hackers, programmers, pioneers, and adventurers. One of VR + AR of SWFL’s goals is “to build a vibrant XR (Extended Reality) community in SWFL to work towards the future of immersive possibilities.”

Technology is here to stay and trends are constantly evolving and new technologies are being developed all the time. Everyone is welcome to be a part of Tech Alliance of SWFL. Connect with likeminded individuals without having to travel too far from home.

Great article and thank you for covering the Tech Alliance of SWFL event! As the founder of SWFLSec and one of the speakers at this event, I just wanted to add while Orlando is not part of SWFL, the Orlando healthcare industry was used as an example of where digital healthcare and the hospital@home movement is headed right here in our backyard. For those interested in information security, cybersecurity, and privacy, SWFLSec holds tech talks on the third Tuesday of each month which are free and open to the public. Check out our upcoming meetings at https://www.meetup.com/swflsec-southwest-florida-infosec-meetup/
